The present work aims to expose a new ideological figure in contemporary society: that of the committed subject. This does not represent, in any way, an ethical evolution against the so-called, by Herbert Marcuse, "one-dimensional man", but the evolution of a type of subject that, in the purifying fiction of his supposed commitment to human society, perfects the class domain and the system that makes it possible. Its apparent dynamics is based on the defense of individual responsibility, which, however, by avoiding critical confrontation with the systemic device that demands it, contributes to the justification of what really exists, even in its most destructive and unethical drifts. The revelation of this paradoxical mechanism is based on the synthetic exposition of the history of responsibility and guilt, as forms of expression of the complex relationship between individual and society in the various phases of global capitalist development.
